The Internet has changed the publishing world. Individuals with an Internet connection can now create compelling flyers and leaflets without investing in desktop publishing software. A basic flyer can be created, distributed and printed using a web-based program that is available freely to the public. Promotional material for an event or function can be created with very little out-of-pocket expense with just a computer and a little creativity.
Instructions
1. Decide what you want the flyer to look like. Flyers can be very simple text-only documents that just communicate the details of an event or meeting, or bright, colorful and fun party invitations. Know what sort of emotional message you hope to express in the flyer.
2. Go to Google Docs, a word processing program available for free use online. In Google Docs, click "New" in the left-hand menu and select the "Document" icon.
3. Enter critical event data such as your event's location and time, and change the font size and style to fit the feel of your flyer. Choose a colorful, fun font for an informal party, or restrict your font to a simple, readable black font if you are trying to project a more professional image.
4. Insert a picture to add color to the flyer and catch the reader's eye. Click "Insert" in the top menu of Google Docs, and select the "Picture" icon. Choose the picture from your computer's hard drive and upload it. Google Docs will insert it into the flyer. You may want to center the picture to keep the flyer symmetrical.
5. Review the flyer and check that it is readable. The more information and pictures you have in the flyer, the greater the chance that a reader may miss some of the information. Don't try to cram in too many details.
6. Click "File" in the top menu and select "Print Preview." This will show you what the flyer will look like when it is printed. If you are pleased with the end result, select "Print" and Google Docs will print it on your local printer.
7. Select "File" and choose "Save." Your flyer will now be saved permanently in Google Docs, and you can access it anywhere you have an Internet connection.
