A Bouquet of Flower Pens
A great little craft project that is fun and easy for the whole family is creating flower pens. These little pens are made with very cheap supplies, and you can get as colorful and flamboyant as you want with them. You can also make them to fit the season, using poinsettias for Christmas and lilies for Easter. They make great gifts!
Instructions
1. Snip off a good portion of the flower. They typically are about 12 inches long and you want your flower stem to only be about 4 inches long. A good rule of thumb is to cut off just enough so that the stem extends about a quarter from the top of the pen.
2. Hold the stem of the flower firmly against the pen. The writing tip should be considered the bottom of the pen, with the other part being the top part. The flower should be placed at the top of the pen.
3. Wrap the tape around the stem and the pen, starting at the top and working your way down. Try to cover all of the stem and don't leave in any wire sticking out. Ideally, you should wind the tape down the pen and then back up. This provides a nice cushion for the pen holder.
4. Make several flower pens and place them in a decorative jar or glass. The final project looks like a gentle bouquet of flowers. You can also simply wrap a length of ribbon around 4 or 5 flower pens and hand this "bouquet" to someone as a gift.
