Proper UDF version to use with ImgBurn software.
UDF is the Universal Disc Format and was designed in the late 1990s to replace the older ISO-9660 disk image standard. UDF has undergone several revisions since its introduction. The revision to use with ImgBurn depends on the disc's intended use.
Video DVDs
DVDs were created with the UDF v1.02 standard and most standalone DVD players only recognize this version of UDF. When burning disk images intended for playing in a standalone DVD player, UDF v1.02 is usually the only supported option available.
Older Operating Systems
As of 2011, the current UDF revision is v2.60. Many older computer operating systems, primarily those released before 2001, only support UDF revisions up to 1.50, with a few that support v2.00. If the disc being burned with ImgBurn is going to be used with an older operating system, use revision 1.50 for the highest level of compatibility.
Newer Devices and Operating Systems
Newer devices and operating systems are generally software upgradable and support UDF up to its current revision standard, v2.60. If the disc being burned with ImgBurn is intended for newer devices or operating systems and requires the use of the advanced features available in the newer revisions of the UDF format, then use UDF v2.50 or v2.60.
