Replace Projectors

You will likely have to replace your projector at some point.

Projectors are commonly used as teaching aids and to make business presentations. They basically allow you to show a large group the same information at once by projecting it onto a large screen. If the projector that you currently use in your classroom or in your business is outdated or breaks, then you will need to get a replacement projector. However, it makes sense to look into all your options first, rather than just buying the same model projector you already have.

Instructions

1. Look into the different types of projectors. A projector with a Liquid Crystal Display, or LCD, features precise details and should only be used for a few hours at a time because of the heat the lamp produces. Liquid Crystal over Silicon, or LCoS, projectors produce a more natural, rather than sharp, image but is heavy and can be tough to move. Digital Light Processing, or DLP, projectors feature a sharp image and long lasting bulb, but needs to be cooled down like the LCD projector.

2. Check the image resolution for the projectors you're deciding between. The image resolution determines how clear the picture created by the projector is. Low resolution is around 640 x 480, while extremely high resolution is around 1600 x 1200. For a projector, look for a resolution of at least 1280 x 800.

3. Factor in the brightness of the projector, which is measured in lumens. For dark rooms, the lumens can be as low as 1,000 to 2,000. However, if you plan to use the projector in a lighted room, the lumens should be higher, at least around 3,000. Lumens for projectors can go as high as 15,000.

4. Read the product description for the projectors carefully to find out how long the projector lamps are likely to last. This will generally range from about 2,000 hours to 60,000 hours. Obviously, the longer the lamps last, the less maintenance and cost involved in changing the bulbs.

5. Consider the cost of the replacement projector you choose. For a classroom or for a business, you will likely have a budget that you need to follow and should choose a projector that falls within that budget.
