Ideas for Electrical Business Cards
Any type of business can benefit from having a memorable, eye-catching business card. However, designing a business card that fits these prerequisites can sometimes be difficult because you have to balance price, etiquette and good taste. This may be especially true for businesses like electrical companies, who don't specialize in the creative but rather in a simple, straightforward service. With a few design ideas though, even an electrical business card can be quite remarkable.
Symbols
Electricity can be a powerful and easy to remember symbol--if it's portrayed correctly. For instance, don't use clip art of lightning bolts that are bright yellow and that look like a child could have drawn them. For a memorable image, get a photograph of a forked lightning strike on your business card. The card's background should be black to emphasize the lightning and to make it easy for those who've seen your card to remember. Other symbols could be bright bulbs, which should also have black backgrounds to emphasize the bulb's brightness, or arcing lines of electricity. Those images will stick with people who have your card.
Text
When laying out your business card, make sure your text is visible and easily seen rather than blocked by your art. Secondly include all of the information that you feel is necessary. If you specialize in a certain type of electrical work, or if you have experience with a variety of different systems, then list what you feel is important. Make sure you note that you are a certified electrician on your card if that is the case. Those who have over 15 years of experience with electrical wiring in homes, commercial buildings or both should list that as well.
Taglines
The tagline is your last chance to get someone's interest. The card draws the eye with the picture and color, and the eye is usually drawn to the cardholder's name and what expertise they're advertising. A tagline is something like a slogan, and it should sum up both your attitude and your business's abilities in a single, catchy line. Don't be afraid to be a little cheesy or to use puns or a play on words. "Shockingly good service for 15 years" could be one slogan that an electrician could use, for instance. Another might be something like "Let us light your nights," which isn't exactly clever, but it is friendly and straightforward and would work well for someone specializing in outdoor lighting.
