Easy-to-remember URLs are incredibly valuable on the Internet. Short, simple domain names sell for thousands and, sometimes, millions of dollars in the domain name reseller market. If you're looking to create a custom, easy-to-remember URL but can't nab a fancy domain name, there are several URL-shortening services that allow you to create custom URLs that redirect to any website you choose.
Instructions
1. Visit bit.ly. This service is one of the more well-known URL shortening services and for good reason; it once had a partnership with Twitter, shortening URLs for all links on the service. You can create a custom URL on bit.ly by visiting the site, clicking the "Customize" button and entering the custom URL you'd like to use.
2. Use TinyURL. This service is another popular choice for those looking to shorten their URLs. TinyURL also provides a custom URL option. Browse over to the TinyURL website, plug in the URL you'd like to shorten and type a custom URL into the "Custom Alias" box.
3. Navigate to Tiny.cc. This service works a lot like the TinyURL service, allowing you to shorten a URL as well as apply a custom name to the shortened URL. Visit the site, enter the URL you'd like to shorten and type a custom URL into the box labeled "customurl."
