Design Your Own Beauty Salon

Design a salon that is fun yet functional.

Beauty salons are more than just a place to get your hair done. They are social scenes and places to unwind all at once. If you have recently purchased a beauty salon or are considering revamping the look of your current space, consider a design that embodies that type of atmosphere you want to project. As a beauty salon owner, you have complete control over your customers' experiences while they are in your place of business. The design of your salon cannot only influence new clients to come, but it can also encourage current clients to stay.

Instructions

1. Measure how much space you have in your salon. Measure everything from the floor space to the windows so you how large or small your purchase items must be.

2. Divide the floor space into four areas: washing and drying, styling, storage and employee-only areas and retail and reception. Determine which areas will require the most space, and then assign the remaining space to the other areas.

3. Select a color scheme that reflects the salon's atmosphere and purpose. Warm tones may work well for a soothing environment, but are not suitable for a fast-pace salon environment.

4. Compare direct and recessed lighting options. Multiple types of lighting in these areas include chandeliers, fluorescent lights, lamps and access to direct sunlight. You will need lighting to create an ambiance, but more importantly, you must make sure your employees have enough light to work properly.

5. Identify salon furniture that you need to service clients versus accent furniture that you need when clients are waiting to be serviced. Select quality pieces that require little upkeep and add to the d cor.

6. Personalize your salon with quirky elements that reflect your own personality. Showing clients a bit of your personality will distinguish your beauty salon from any other.
