Find Specifications
on Yamaha Pianos
There is a large variety of pianos on the market, each with their own set of specifications. Knowing the specifications of the piano before you buy it will ensure that the model is appropriate for your needs. The specifications for Yamaha's numerous piano models can generally be found on their respective pages on Yamaha's website. Older models may no longer be listed. If that's the case, there are other resources available to assist in your search.
Instructions
1. Search the Yamaha Piano website for your model. Once found, visit the piano's page and look for the Specifications tab. Specifications will include keyboard type, pedals, finish, dimensions and weight. Also listed will be tone generation, effects, songs, amplifiers, and speakers for digital pianos. An example of this list can be seen on the Yamaha page for their Modus H01 model.
2. Search the Internet for your piano model if it cannot be found on Yamaha's site. Have the model number or serial number handy. For example, a simple search for "YDP-223 specifications" (YDP-223 is a Yamaha model number) should yield a number of results. The serial number can be found inside the piano, stamped on a gold-colored plate.
3. Find a piano-buying guide from the era in which your piano was produced to see if it includes a list of your piano's specifications. These types of guides generally include an index-like section listing piano specifications.
4. Visit the store where you purchased your piano (or are considering buying it) and ask the salesperson for information on the model's specifications.
5. Find a local music store and explain your difficulty in finding the specifications for your piano. Again, it's helpful to have the model number or serial number.
