1. Conduct an Internet search. Simply type the name of the business into an Internet search engine and see what spins out. The business may have a website that lists its phone number and address. You may also find news stories or reviews about the business.
2. Contact a chamber of commerce. The South Florida Chamber of Commerce (southfloridachamber.org/) has members from all over the region. Ask if the business you are seeking is a member, where it is located and the name of the contact person. If the business is not a member, a chamber representative may be able to direct you to other South Florida chambers to help you find it.
3. Search the Better Business Bureau of Southeast Florida and the Caribbean (bbb.org/south-east-florida/search). You can find a business's address, a reliability report and information on complaints filed against it.
4. Check corporate filings. Go to the Florida Department of State, Division of Corporations website (sunbiz.org/) to find corporate filings for the business you are looking for. If it is incorporated in Florida, the department of state will have a mailing and physical address and the names of corporate officers.
5. Contact a regulatory agency. Check out the agency's website to determine if the business is required to register. If it is, you can search the agency's database for its location and licensing information and any complaints filed against it.
