Sell Magazine Subscriptions As An Agent

A lot of money can be made - or saved, if you purchase for yourself - by working as a subscription agent. In this position, you act as an independent contractor, taking orders for subscriptions to magazines and submitting them to a magazine clearinghouse.

Instructions

1. Visit the website of a magazine fulfillment agency, such as Subscription Agency or MyClearingHouse.com.

2. Fill out the agency's application, which will require your name, address, phone number and Social Security number for tax reporting purposes. The application will also ask how you plan to sell magazine subscriptions.

3. Submit your application and set-up fee, which for Subscription Agency is $50.

4. Wait for approval. Once approved, you will be given access to your Subscription Agency online account. There you will see prices for the various magazine subscriptions.

Each magazine will have three prices next to it. The regular price, subrate, and remit. The regular price is just the newsstand price multiplied by the number of issues in a year. The subrate is the minimum price the publisher allows the subscription to be sold for. The remit is the price you pay.

5. Sell subscriptions. Some of the most common ways of selling subscriptions are:

On a website or blog;

Person-to-person contact with family and friends;

Through fundraisers (church, school, little league, etc.);

Door-to-door;

At school; and

At work.
