Etsy is a website on which you can buy and sell handcrafted items to a worldwide audience. It is often referred to as a virtual craft fair. Opening your own store on Etsy is easy.
Instructions
1. Sign up. It is free to join Etsy, but you'll need an email address and credit card to set up an account. You can shop and browse the site for free, but each listing you post requires a nominal fee.
2. Photograph your merchandise. You should take high quality digital photographs of the items that you intend to sell. When you create your listing, the site will automatically generate thumbnail versions of each picture that will be used during a customer's search. You can include up to 5 photos with each listing.
3. Choose a name for your shop and set it up. The site will walk you through the creation of your name and site. It is important that you choose a good store name, as this will also be the address of your personal Etsy.com website. For example, "mycrafts.etsy.com."
4. Describe your products. Write enticing descriptions. Ask yourself what makes your products appealing and distinctive. Describe the materials, size and special features of your goods.
5. List your items. Again, the site will walk you through the process for listing your arts and crafts.
6. Choose a payment option. The easiest, safest way to accept payment is through Paypal. If you do not have a Paypal account, go to its website and sign up for one. You can also directly accept checks and money orders, but online payment providers like Paypal are more convenient.
