Create A Myspace For A Business Or For Networking Purposes

The Internet has made advertising and networking easier. Instead of getting dressed up in business suits, going out and pounding the flesh to drum up business and opportunities, you can drum up business and opportunities in the comfort of your own home. You simply need a computer, an Internet connection and access to social networking sites. One social networking site is Myspace. You can easily create a Myspace page to advertise your business and to ind networking opportunities.

Instructions

1. Go to Myspace.com. Click on the button that says "Sign up free."

2. Choose your account type. Then fill in your last name, first name and e-mail address. Choose a password. Give your date of birth and your gender. Click the "Sign up free" button.

3. Upload a photograph. Indicate the country, state and city in which you live. Preview this information. Remember that friends, customers and business contacts will see this information when visiting your profile. If this is the type of image you want to present for your business or for your networking purposes, click "Next." If not, change it to better represent your purpose for creating a Myspace page.

4. Add people and interests. You have the option of adding entertainers to your profile. If you want to keep it professional, skip this step and continue to your homepage.

5. Confirm your e-mail address by going to the e-mail account that you provided, opening the e-mail from Myspace and clicking on the link provided in the e-mail. This link will take you to your new Myspace account.

6. Add your basic profile information. You have the option of adding photos, changing your status and mood and sharing links, videos, music and your thoughts. Look for the column labeled, "My Stuff." Under, "My Profile," click on "Design." Design your profile to fit your business or networking needs. Select a theme, and click "Publish." Once your new profile has shown up on your page, navigate to the columns labeled "Blurbs," "Details," "Schools," and "Company."

7. Hover your cursor over these labels and click on the pencil icon. This allows you to input information into your profile that you would like customers of your business or networking contacts to know about you and/or your business. For example, if you are a lawyer offering legal services, you want to obtain clients. A good way to go about doing that would be to list the name of your company or law firm, such as "Jones, Johnson, and Jacobs, LLC." You may also want to list the law school that you attended if the school is distinguished.

8. Use your blog. If you have created your Myspace page for networking purposes, disclose your career goals in your blog. If you created the page for business purposes, give information about your services and helpful information that will entice readers to come back to your page. Update your blog regularly to keep readers returning.
