Call International Numbers On A Cell Phone

As more people switch from landlines to using cell phones full time, more are using cell phones to make international calls. Before you make such calls, it is best to make sure your cell phone plan includes access to international calling. If you don't have an international calling plan, using your cell phone to make international calls can bring a large bill at the end of the month. Dialing an international number on a cell phone is not much different from dialing one on a land-line phone.

Instructions

1. Press the plus key before you dial the international number. All cell phones have the ability to do this, but each brand has its own way of accomplishing it. Check with your owner's manual if you can not find it on your phone's keypad.

2. Dial 011, followed by the country code and phone number when calling numbers outside the North American Numbering Plan.

3. Dial 1, the area code and phone number for international calls to countries within the North American Number Plan, such as Canada, Bermuda, the United States Virgin Islands, Trinidad and Tobago.
