Chair Stair Lift Options

Stairs can be a pain for those with limited mobility.

While stairs make mobility possible between various floors of your home they may be a pain for the aged or the handicap. A chair stair lift is a good idea here to carry a person up or down the stairs and also help with laundry and groceries. Ranging from the color of the chair to the arm rests, there are various options to choose from while setting up a chair lift.

Fabric and Colors

You can order your chair to match your home decor. There are a wide variety of fabrics and colors available to suit your style and taste. Easy to clean and low maintenance fabrics are viable options.

Capacity

Most stair chair lifts come with a maximum capacity of only 300 lbs. But you can also order a heavy duty stair chair lift that can hold a maximum capacity of 500 lbs. They come with a wider seat of 36 inches and more.

Arms

You can order your stair chair lift with arms that fold up and out of the way. Some chairs come without the arms. Some only have standard arms that do not move.

Rails

All stair chair lifts have rails that follow along the wall side of the stairway for the chair to ride on. It goes from one end of the stairs to the other. Many stair chair lifts offer a rail that will fold up along the wall until you need it. When needed you can fold it out. This will keep it out of the way when not in use.

Swivel Bottom

Many stair lift chairs offer a swivel at the bottom of the chair. You can turn the chair to sit on it or get out of it. You can swivel the chair at either end of the stairway. But when the stair chair lift is in operation your back will be towards the wall. Not all stair chair lifts have this option.

Foot Rest Sensor

A foot rest sensor monitors the weight on the foot rest. While in operation if the feet come off the foot rest the sensor will stop the stair lift chair. This is an optional safety feature.

Seat Belt Senor

The seat belt sensor is another optional safety feature for the stair chair lift while in operation. If the seat belt sensor detects that the seat belt has got undone the stair lift chair will come to a stop.
