Build Trust With Your Partner

Sharing ideas with your partner helps build trust in your relationship.

Building trust in a relationship is crucial for long-term success and happiness. It is important for a couple to trust each other in order to create a comfort zone. Taking a relationship to the next level requires building trust. With that in mind, you need to be prepared to put a lot of work into it. This process will require honesty and setting boundaries as well as communication skills and dedication.

Instructions

1. Be honest with your partner in all situations. Avoid trying to protect his feelings by changing the truth. The truth will always prevail. Do not be afraid to reveal a lie you told in the past. Being forthright shows that you want to build trust.

2. Set some boundaries in the relationship. Avoid reactions that are based on jealousy. Discuss what behaviors are acceptable for the two of you or not. Make sure not to cross those boundaries yourself. This initiative shows that you want to work on building trust.

3. Do not keep secrets. It is not a good idea to keep a secret. Expose your secrets before they becomes troublesome. Face any consequences that may arise from exposing a secret. Keep his secrets confidential. Express your needs to him. This consideration shows how much you want him to be involved.

4. Communicate openly. Listen and acknowledge what he has to say. Make him feel comfortable after communicating with you. Use reassuring statements such as "I completely understand and respect your opinion" or " I would love to hear more about this". Communicating freely will make him feel confident and encourage him to communicate more often.

5. Keep your promises. Avoid anything that can stop you from keeping them. Be realistic about any promise you make. It is better not to make a promise than to make one and break it. Do what you can to follow through on a promise. If you find you cannot keep it, let him know right away.

6. Believe in your partner's capabilities. Support his decisions in life. Show him that you have faith in his ability to handle himself. Work through any concerns you might have by discussing them with him.
