Dial A Mexican Cell Phone

Key in 16 digits to call a Mexican cell phone from the United States.

You can make calls to other countries such as Mexico from your regular telephone, provided your phone service supports international calls. The procedure may be slightly different whether calling a land line or a cell phone. If you are in the United States and would like to call somebody in Mexico who has a Mexican cell phone, you will need to dial some numbers before the cell phone number to route the call properly.

Instructions

1. Dial 011 on your phone. This is the exit code from the United States or Canada and indicates that you are calling internationally.

2. Dial 52. This is Mexico's country code and will route the call to Mexico.

3. Dial 1. This step is the only difference between dialing to a Mexican land line and a Mexican cell phone. If you were calling a land line, you would not need to include this step in your dialing.

4. Dial the 10-digit Mexican cell phone number. If the phone number is based in a large city such as Guadalajara, Monterrey or Mexico City, the number will consist of a 2-digit city code plus an 8-digit cell phone number. All other cities in Mexico have a 3-digit city code plus a 7-digit cell phone number.
