Ge Gwf Water Filter Replacement

General Electric refrigerators which dispense water come equipped with filtration devices that remove impurities from the water supply. GE has recently replaced its GWF series of water filter cartridges with the MWF line. The MWF sits in all GWF fittings and cleanly replaces its predecessor.

The filter reduces levels of dangerous chemicals, including lead, mercury, asbestos, benzene and chloride, among others.

Instructions

Replacing the GWF Water Filter

1. Open the refrigerator door and find the water filter. Typically, it is located at the rear of the refrigerator compartment.

2. Unseat the cartridge. Turn the cartridge counter-clockwise until it unlocks and pull downward. The water supply will cut off. Be careful as the cartridge will be full of water.

3. Remove the new filter from its box and fill it with cold tap water.

4. Reseat the new filter by pushing it upward into the filter fitting and turning clockwise until it is locked in.

5. Test your water line. Try using the water dispenser. If the water flows without issue, then the installation was performed correctly.

6. Reset the water filter sensor by pressing and holding the "Change Water Filter" button for three seconds.
