Start A Business Selling Jeans

Start a Business Selling Jeans

If you have an entrepreneurial spirit and you're looking for an easy-to-start, profitable business then selling jeans may be for you. Yes, one can buy jeans anywhere but because they're an item that people always need, want, have to replace and can be difficult to find a good fit, there is always a niche to be found. So keep reading to start your business and sell some jeans.

Instructions

1. Determine what type of jean-selling business you want to have. You can sell jeans online, at flea markets, open a small boutique or even out of your car. But each choice has different steps that are necessary to get them up and running.

2. If you sell your jeans online, you'll either have to get a web page designer or look into an auction site like eBay. Flea markets are great because all you have to do is rent out a small space, and you'll get hundreds (maybe even thousands) of people walking by your goods. You own boutique might be a little more difficult as you need to rent an actual shop, pay for utilities, pay employees, get insurance and so on. Selling jeans out of your car might prove difficult as most people will think you're selling stolen merchandise.

3. Decide what type of jeans you want to sell. You can focus strictly on the designer market, sell discount jeans, focus on a certain segment of the population (children or women, for example) or a combination of things. The best idea, however, is to have a niche so that way you can focus on a particular market.

4. Find a wholesaler that will offer you the best price on your jeans. An online search should produce a number of wholesalers but be careful of companies that sell merchandise in lots, sight unseen. You may hit the jackpot but you may also end up with a bunch of jeans you can't sell. It's usually better to focus on one small segment of brands.

5. Incorporate your business. Incorporation either as an Inc. or LLC will offer you financial and tax protection as well as giving customers a sense of security that you're a reputable person to do business with.

6. Advertise. Make business cards, pass out fliers and start a blog. Do whatever you can to let people know you're selling jeans and why they should buy them from you.
