Send An International Money Order From Sri Lanka

If you're in Sri Lanka and need to send a money order internationally, you have several options. Money orders function much like travelers' checks: The recipient can cash the money order in his own country and receive his own currency.

Instructions

1. Visit the MoneyGram website or the Western Union website (see Resources), or one of their offices located in Sri Lanka. A list of locations can be found for MoneyGram and Western Union on their websites. You can search by country or by a specific area in an individual country.

2. Take your credit card or cash and a form of identification with you if you go to an office in person. Accepted identification includes your passport, an international driver's license, or any ID issued by Sri Lankan universities or schools or the government.

3. Enter your name, address, and credit information into the online form or fill out the form provided to you by the clerk in the office. Clearly print the name of the person and the address to which you want the money sent. Fill in the amount for the money order you want to send, and what currency you want it sent in.

4. Submit the online form or give the print form and your credit card or cash to the clerk at the office. You will receive an email or written receipt depending on how you sent the money order.
