Recently, technology has allowed users to refill printer ink themselves for a fraction of the expense of purchasing another cartridge. If you are interested in taking care of your cartridge yourself, here are some steps to help you refill your HP ink.
Instructions
1. Purchase a refill kit from an electronics store or online (see Resources below). These come in black-only, color-only and combination packs. This pack will consist of a series of inks and an injector that will allow you to refill your HP ink cartridge.
2. Remove the ink cartridge from the printer and clean it off. There will be a small amount of excess ink leakage, so set the cartridge on a thick padding of paper towels in order to soak up the remainder and keep your hands clean.
3. Fill your ink syringe up with the first color. This can be done by forcing the syringe’s plunger completely down and dipping the tip into the ink. Slowly pull the plunger up until it is completely filled with ink.
4. Take off the label on the HP cartridge to reveal the air holes. Carefully place the tip of the syringe in the appropriate hole. If you are refilling color cartridges, make sure you apply the correct color to the matching ink tank. Push the plunger down until the ink tank is completely full.
5. Pour left over ink in the syringe back into the ink from your kit in order to refill your cartridge again. Thoroughly clean the syringe with soap and water. Insert the clean syringe into the remaining colors if you are refilling a color cartridge, and repeat the steps necessary for filling your HP cartridge until all three tanks are full.
