Design A Retail Shop

When you are designing a retail shop, begin from the outside and work your way in. Make a first impression from the exterior so that patrons feel comfortable and safe coming inside the building. Do research to find out what customers' needs are and design the retail shop accordingly. Hire an interior designer if necessary.

Instructions

The Process

1. Create a desirable exterior by making sure the window display is eye-catching and that the premises are clean. The window display should be colorful and represent the essence of the retail shop. It should relate to the products being sold.

2. Decide what the interior layout will be. Include the different aisles and make them wide for easy movement. Decide where the sale counters will be. Design the store so that customers can maneuver around easily.

3. Place several mannequins and display areas throughout the store without crowding any areas. Have sales personnel dress up the mannequins with various clothing selections. You could go with a party theme, a wintry theme or a Halloween theme depending on the time of year.

4. Pay attention to the decor of the store. Make the walls colorful and bright with a feeling of warmth.

5. Post signs throughout the store, labeling the different categories or departments. Make it easy for the customers to find exactly what they are looking for.
