Make An Advertising Flyer

Eye-catching flyers draw attention to your event or business.

No matter how hard you try, you can't escape advertisements. They're everywhere--they even pop up in the middle of your favorite television show. When you have something to advertise, you have to make it stand out from everything else that's bombarding your potential customers. One of the best ways to do this is with fliers. An appealing flier grabs the reader's eye, then makes him want more information. Follow these steps to create fliers that generate results.

Instructions

Make Your Own Advertising Fliers

1. Write down the important points you want to communicate in your flier. A good place to start is the 5 Ws: who, what, when, where and why.

2. Decide if you want to create your flier by hand or if you want to use a computer. If you enjoy expressing yourself artistically, making it by hand lets your personality shine through. If you would rather use clip art and other graphics, most word processing programs have templates that will let you create fliers quickly and easily.

3. Draw a border around the outside of the flier, leaving at least a 1/4-inch margin between the border and the edge of the paper. The border will give your flier a finished look and will draw the reader's attention to the information in the center.

4. Put the name of your event or business at the top of the flier, followed by the important points you listed earlier. Experiment with different fonts and sizes for the name, but stick to fonts that are easy to read (such as Arial, Helvetica or Times New Roman) for the other information.

5. Add in relevant graphics or artwork to punch up your flier. Using lots of pictures can distract the reader from the information about your business or event. Try using one large graphic on the side of your flier instead.

6. Copy your fliers onto brightly colored paper so that they will attract attention.
