Project A Certain Attitude & Personality To Get Ahead

Learn interact well with the people with whom you work.

Having the right attitude will help you with your career, personal relationships and friendships. You may feel that after spending more than a couple of years at your current job, you're losing momentum and need to revamp your outlook in order to improve your performance and get ahead. It's most important to project a good attitude and a winning personality when you're new to a situation, place or group of people. Then work on maintaining your outlook.

Instructions

1. Ignore the voices in your head that tell you that the work you're doing or a specific task is boring. By thinking that the task at hand is exciting, you'll automatically feel more energized to complete it. This quick mental exercise will improve your mood almost immediately. On the same note, setting goals in your personal life and following through on them, even if they're difficult, like trying to run your first mile, will ultimately lift your spirits and put you in a better mood.

2. Act cheerful, friendly and optimistic. Whether you're at the end of a difficult work week or out to dinner with a mixed group of people, which includes a couple who you're not too fond of, it's important not to complain or sulk. This attitude will only push people away from you, and it won't help your mood to improve, either.

3. Watch that your body language coincides with the personality you're trying to project. Crossing your arms and not making eye contact are two big signs that will give off negative signals. Instead, keep your arms relaxed, make eye contact, and smile at others.

4. Try out a positive attitude for just one day. You'll notice that people react to and interact with you better. Eventually, after you've adopted this attitude, it will slowly start to become entwined with your true personality, and it will be easier to project on a daily basis.
