Clean A Draft Beer System

Whether if you have your own home brewing system, or you run a bar or a brewing company, you will need to clean your machines and system after every batch of beer you use. If you don't, you can ruin future batches of beer. Cleaning a draft beer system is easy with the proper supplies.

Instructions

1. Purchase beer system cleaning supplies from your local brewer or search for them online. The products are all pretty standard. See the Resources section below for some cleaning system sellers.

2. Read the instructions for the beer system cleaning solution. Mix the solution with the proper amount of water. The required ratio is usually one gallon of warm water to four tablespoons of beer system cleaner. Mix it in a two- or three-gallon bucket.

3. Shut off the CO2 valve to the beer line. Unscrew the beer line from the keg with the proper sized wrench. Unscrew the beer tap faucet from the other end of the beer line by hand.

4. Place the beer tap faucet and beer line in the solution in the bucket. Soak the material for 10 to 15 minutes. Run the bristled wire beer line brush through the beer line and into both ends of the beer tap faucet.

5. Run fresh water from your sink through the beer tap faucet and beer line for several minutes to flush any old yeast or cleaning solution out of the line and faucet.

6. Reattach the beer tap faucet and beer line. Reattach the beer line to the keg.
